Ruler: Master of the Mask also known as The Emperor: Owner of the Mask made an impact to the historical genre in the korean drama world. It was starred by Yoo Seung-Ho (Missing You, Remember: War of the Sun,) Kim So-Hyun (Who Are You: High School 2015, Goblin, Hey Ghost Let's Fight, Missing You) and Infinite's L.
The drama is about to a crown prince who wants and ready to be a good king for his nation. He was forced to wear a mask since he was born to protect him from the Pyunsoo Organization who manipulates the distribution of the water in his nation and wants to take control to the palace. As he growing up, he had to use a person who will act as the king while he was thinking of way to win back his nation from the Pyunsoo Organization.
So let's face the truth here.
I can't force you to watch Master of the Mask, but i can tell you what made it special to get you hook at it.
Let's start!
1. The actors delivered it soooooo well. Want some proof?

~It's true that Infinite's L is cute, hot, lovable, name it. And his eyes??? uuuugggghhhhhhhhhhhh. I thought his acting will ruin his character because of some lame acting skills on his first two appearances in the drama. BUT HELL, TRUST ME, i was wrong. TOTALLY WRONG. Starting in the 3rd episode of the drama up to the very last episode, I adored his acting more than I adored Seung-Ho's (sorry oppa, but i still love you to death hahaha). Especially to the scenes where he had to put so much anger and had to cry a lot. Those eyes will touch your heart.
~Let's talk about Kim So-Hyun. We all know that So-Hyun is on her way becoming a superstar in the world of korean drama. Her acting is great, even in her past projects. Have you watched her acting in Goblin? (although it's just a cameo) She slayed her seniors there! But in this drama, you'll see Ha Geun (So-Hyun's character) and So-Hyun (yeah I'm talking to So-Hyun being So-Hyun) as one. I mean, she fits well in the character. And that what makes So-Hyun looked so good in this drama.
~Yoo Seung-Ho's acting brought this drama into its success. He really made sure that every project he'll do will be better than the previous. And for this drama, he gave his best. Watching Seung-ho in this melodrama will make you keep watching it. He's handsome. Isn't he? hahaha. Watch the drama and see how he delivered that line. He's so cute there.
It will take much time if I will review all the characters but i can guarantee you this.
THEY ACTED SO WELL. ALL. OF. THEM.
2. The story is good and the settings will not bore you out.
This drama was filled with laugh, tears and frustrations to the viewers. I have to admit that the writer of this drama is so good. Please let me put a little spoiler here. This drama will never break your heart. The flow of the story did not just revolved on how Lee Sun (Seung-Ho) will win back his throne. There are lots of twists and sometimes it will surprise you for not seeing that coming.
3. You will love the characters.
I'm talking about the whole characters, not just the main characters. Every characters have different ways to touch your feelings. Even the antagonist, for sure you will understand him in the end and will feel sorry for him.

4. The chemistry between Seung-ho and So-Hyun
They have a very good chemistry. Seung-Ho and So-Hyun already worked together in the drama Missing You. I don't know if it just me, but Seung-ho and So-Hyun really cute together. I remember reading an interview of Seung-Ho about So-Hyun. He said there that he is swooned by the charm of So-Hyun. He's right. Who would not?
5. The ending will make you want more.
It's not because the ending is bad. It's because of wanting to watch more and hoped that it will still run some more episodes. The characters did well and very iconic in their own ways. Sure they really got along with each other and had a lot of fun while doing the drama. You can tell it by the outcome of the drama.
They may not surpass the Moon Embracing The Sun (which is one of their expectations in this drama), but for me, this movie is still a success and worth to watch.
